Man held in RBI challan scam
The Detective Department of the Kolkata police on Saturday arrested another man in the RBI challan scam. Jonardan Barui (29) alias John was arrested from his Joynagar residence in South 24-Parganas. Police said John had connections with officials of the Transport department.

Tenant shot at for refusing to shift out
A building promoter’s ‘goon’ allegedly opened fire on a tenant family in the Moulavi Gulam Sobhan Lane on Saturday after the latter refused to vacate the building. The accused,Arshad,allegedly broke into the building of one Muhammad Haque and threatened his family. As Haque refused to oblige,Arshad’s associates shot at him and his son,who escaped unhurt.
