Kishenji defends Railway Ministers comment on Azad
Kolkata: Maoist supremo Kishenji on Wednesday defended Mamata Banerjee for stating that the killing of Azad was wrong and that talks could only be held after the withdrawal of anti-Maoist operations. There is no doubt that Azad was treacherously murdered. Mamata spoke the truth. So why the furore over the issue in Parliament? Kishenji said over phone from an undisclosed location.

CBI can probe Sainthia mishap
KOLKATA: The state government has no objection to the Centres proposal for a CBI probe into the Sainthia railway accident last month. The MHA had written to the state Home Department a week ago,seeking its opinion on a CBI probe as the Railways were keen on that. The MHA note came to us two weeks after the accident. The CID is investigating the case and it has made some progress. We think the CID is competent enough to do the job. But we have told them if the CBI wants to investigate the case,it is free to do so. We will give them all cooperation, said State Home Secretary Samar Ghosh.
7 Maoists arrested
Kolkata: The Purulia and Bankura police arrested seven hardcore Maoists in two separate incidents on Wednesday. Six Maoists,including an area commander,were arrested from the Ayodhya hills of Purulia district while Gurupada Hembram,associate of Sidhu Soren,who was killed recently,was nabbed from Sarenga in Metala forest,West Midnapore.
Meanwhile,five people were arrested from Belpahari,West Midnapore,on Wednesday. According to a senior police official,former CPM local committee member Jawahar Pal was picked up for having Maoists links. Pal,a resident of Kendrapara village,had been expelled from his party after he was caught helping the Maoists,said the official.
