Hawkers protest eviction in Salt Lake

Hundreds of hawkers protested inside the city’s IT hub in Salt Lake,when the officials of Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority tried to launch an eviction drive on Saturday morning. Covering an area of 432 acres,the township at present has around 400 hawkers. Nabadiganta officials claim that they had agreed to 132 hawkers in the area and asked them to form a co-operative and apply for licences.
