All eyes will be on West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose today as he will attend a heritage initiative on the banks of the Hooghly river – his first public appearance since a war of words erupted between him and TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee that has led to the filing of cross complaints with the police by the two.

EC preps for Assembly polls
The First Level Checking of EVMs will start today with the four-member visiting EC team to hold a meeting with all the district magistrates of West Bengal in which a demonstration on EVMs that will be used in coming Assembly elections will be shown.
West Bengal has 80,681 booths, which will be increased to around 95,000 for the Assembly elections, an EC official said, adding around 1.30 lakh ballot units and control units and more than 1.25 lakh VVPAT machines will be required for the Assembly polls, likely to be held between March and April next year.
Nitin Gadkari at CA meet
The Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will organise the 50th (Golden Jubilee) Regional Conference today at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in Kolkata. The theme of the two-day conference is “ETHICS – YOUTH – EMPOWER”. Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari will be the chief guest at the event.
