By: ENS & PTI Five new cases of swine flu were detected in the state during the last two days, taking the total number of people afflicted by the H1N1 virus to 36. So far, two persons have died from the disease in the state. Principal Secretary (Health and Family Welfare) Moloy Dey said: “All hospitals have been asked to be fully prepared. We are also running ad campaigns to spread awareness among the people about the disease.” Samples are being tested at National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases in Beleghata. On Tuesday, West Bengal Health Services director Biswaranjan Satpathy told PTI: “Only 20 to 25 per cent of the samples have tested positive, which was almost double even three days ago. This shows that the impact of the disease is declining.” [related-post] Speaking about the measures taken by the state government to counter the disease, Satpathy said: “There is nothing to worry about because we have adequate stock of Tamiflu tablets as well as masks. We are keeping a check on the situation.” There was no report of any infection by the H1N1 virus in the districts, he said. Since January, two people have died of the disease.
