One of the two Maoists reportedly killed in yesterdays gunbattle with security forces was a former student of Jadavpur University,intelligence sources said today.
We have received information that Abhishek Mukherjee,a former student of international relations department at Jadavpur University,was critically injured in the gunbattle. However,the forces are yet to recover any body. Abhishek used to operate in Lalgarh under the name of Vikram, an intelligence official said.
According to CID sources,Abhishek,a resident of Mankundu in Hooghly,went underground about eight months ago and joined the Maoists armed squad.
Policemen from local police station visited his house in the afternoon but his family members reportedly did not have any information about his whereabouts, said a CID official.
We have information that Sidhu Soren,a close associate of Kishenji,called up a leader of Matangini Mahila Samity and told her one of the student comrades was killed in yesterdays gunbattle, added the official.
Meanwhile,a senior officer who is part of the joint forces,said they have information that Kishenji,after being was critically injured in the gunbattle yesterday,spent the night in the forest in Lakkhanpur after the forces were withdrawn from the spot. After the security forces moved to the place today again in the wee hours,nothing was spotted by the force.
We are intercepting the telephonic conversations between the Maoist leaders and we have come to know that Kishenji is critically injured. Latest inputs indicate he might have been taken out of the state, said a senior officer of the joint security forces.
Vijay Raman,special DG,CRPF,said security forces today moved to various locations in the forests after specific inputs were received.
Sporadic skirmishes continued today between the Maoists and the security forces in several parts of Lalgarh,including Lakkhanpur,Hathishol and Brindabanpur.
