Caravaggio in a self portrait as Bacchius,Robert De Niro in his stud glory and the memorable poster from Cinema Paradiso. The Kolkata leg of Quiz Italia organised and conducted for the Istituto Italiano di Cultura,New Delhi by Eloquenza and Quizcraft,had more than just a few moments. The Kolkata round saw 70 city schools battle it out for the coveted entry into the national finals. From the six schools that were selected from the prelims,a team from DPS Ruby Park,comprising Nandish Chattopadhyay and Mitul Dey,emerged winners. The national finals will be held in the Italian Embassy Cultural Centre,New Delhi on the 17th of October,2011,as part of the 11th edition of the international “Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel mondo” or Italian Language Week in the world.

Prior to this,the Bhubaneshwar leg of the same quiz saw a team from DAV School Chandrasekharpur come out as winners. The quiz covered Italy and its people,their history and culture,their contribution to fine arts,literature,architecture,design,cinema,fashion,cuisine,business,economy,science,technology,sports and folk and traditional arts and crafts.

The quiz held in association with The Indian Express had Del Monte as title sponsors. The event was supported by FIAT,Lavazza and Alpenliebe,with prizes courtesy Benetton,Lotto and Oakley.
