Forget the Calcutta High Courts directive banning protests within a 50-meter radius of the Hotel Hindusthan International (HHI). Posters and hoardings of the CITU-backed union have not been removed from the premises of the hotel.
The order was issued after a petition filed by the hotel management came up for hearing before Justice Sanjib Banerjee on Thursday.
We are yet to receive a copy of the order. Immediate action will be taken against any violation as soon as the order is received, said Deputy Commissioner (South) Rajesh Subarna.
We have been told about the order verbally by the lawyer of the hotel management, but we cannot take any step unless we see the order, he added.
Sources in the hotel management, meanwhile, said the Bhowanipore police station would remove the posters soon.
According to the petition filed in court, the management had alleged that the employees affiliated to the CITU were holding protests within the hotel premises, which is affecting business.
We will not remove our posters or hoardings from the hotel premises. The court order cannot stop our movement. It will go on, said CITUs Bengal unit general secretary Kali Ghosh.
