The top leadership of the CPM is under pressure to take stringent action against former land and land reforms minister Abdur Rezzaq Mollah for his comments yesterday regarding the 400 acres of land in Singur.
Mollah had stoked the Singur controversy by saying that returning the 400 acres,as announced by CM Mamata Banerjee, was possible under the existing clauses in the Land Acquisition Act.
He even went to the extent of offering help to Mamata if needed.
Senior CPM leader Benoy Konar,a central committee member, said the party had sought a detailed report and the course of action will be decided soon.
Sujan Chakraborty, district secretary,South 24 Parganas, said that district-level members were not happy with Mollahs remarks .
Gautam Deb,former housing minister, also said the party state committee would take a decision soon regarding Mollahs statements.
Mollah is one of the few ministers of the Left Front cabinet to have won the Assembly election.
