CPM: Impartial probe by govt not possible

The CPM on Friday said there could be no impartial inquiry into the death of SFI leader Sudipta Gupta “due to the attitude of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her government”.

The CPM on Friday said there could be no impartial inquiry into the death of SFI leader Sudipta Gupta “due to the attitude of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her government”. CPM general secretary Prakash Karat in Delhi demanded judicial inquiry into the case. His comments came a day after Banerjee termed Sudipta’s death as a “small and petty matter”. Karat said Sudipta’s death “highlights the state of affairs in Bengal where democratic and peaceful protests are brutally suppressed and the Left Front is under constant attack”.
