Cong MLA calls colleague CPM stooge

Senior Congress MLA Samar Mukherjee,representing Rotua in Malda district,on Wednesday called party colleague Manas Bhuniya,minister for irrigation and micro and small industries,a Bibhishan and CPM stooge. “There are Bhibhishans in the government who are tarnishing its image and lowering the dignity of the Mamata Banerjee government. They are manasputras of Buddhadebbabu (former Left Front chief minister) and Gautam Deb (former minister for housing) in the government. They should be exposed,” Mukherjee said during his speech on the debate on the governor’s address in the Assembly. Mukherjee was mentioning alleged cases of corruption in the irrigation department under Bhuniya. ‘Manasputra’ was a term often used sarcastically by minister for commerce and industries Partha Chatterjee,when he was leader of the Opposition,about Bhuniya. While Bhuniya was not available for comment,leader of Congress Legislature Party Mohammd Sohrab said,“It is unfortunate that Mukherjee made such a disparaging remark against our minister. I have convened a meeting of the CLP day after tomorrow to decide the course of action.”
