Urging the youth of West Bengal to “learn from Nepal”, BJP leader Arjun Singh on Thursday said “without blood, no corrupt rule ends”, sparking a row. The TMC has threatened to file FIRs against the former MP across the state, accusing him of threatening to kill Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Speaking to mediapersons on the ongoing crisis in Nepal, the BJP leader said: “When will the youth of Bengal awaken to overcome this corrupt government of the state? We are waiting. Without blood, no corrupt rule ends. Many said that (Mahatma) Gandhiji liberated the country by playing songs. I personally do not believe in it.”

“Unemployed youths should learn from Nepal. There, the youth of 18 to 30 years have shown power. This is needed in Bengal. The day when the youth of Bengal will be awakened, people like us are willing to lead from the first row,” he added.
Reacting to his remarks, TMC MP from Barrackpore Partha Bhowmick said he and his party colleagues would register FIRs against Singh at all the police stations in the state for threatening to murder the chief minister. “When illiterates speak, they speak like this. Bangladesh is a country. Nepal is also a country. And West Bengal is a state. He (Singh) is telling the youth of India to do this against the Government of India. Because in the country and the BJP-ruled states, there is corruption. Nevertheless, we will never say that India is a country like Nepal because we are believers in democracy. He basically threatened to kill the chief minister.”
After Bhowmick’s remark, the BJP leader said he was not afraid of police cases against him. “I am not afraid of their threat. They can file as many complaints against me. But, I will not change my stand,” said Singh.
In the last Lok Sabha elections, Bhowmick had defeated Singh in Barrackpore.
