Bagan coach rues luck,pressure

Mohun Bagan coach Karim Bencherifa blamed the loss against JCT on the pressure imposed on his team, both on and off the field.

Mohun Bagan coach Karim Bencherifa blamed the loss against JCT on the pressure imposed on his team, both on and off the field.

“I am very upset with the pressure that is being imposed on the team,on and off the field. I don’t want to elaborate but the ambience is not perfect for a good show,” he said in the post-match press conference.

Asked if he will quit,he said: “Resignation is a big word, but anything can happen.”

He,however, was happy with the players for giving their best. “They made some mistakes all right, but fought till the end. We were unlucky to leave empty-handed,” he said.

JCT coach Sukhwinder Singh,on the other hand, said that he was happy with the way his boys bounced back after the break. “In the first half,we were under pressure. I thought Bagan would continue in the same vein after the break as well,at least for first 10 minutes. But our boys snatched the initiative away from them,” said the venerable coach.
