The Local Military Authorities (LMA) at Fort William have alleged in their report that the CPM and its youth front DYFI had violated the guidelines laid down by the Calcutta High Court during their rallies at the Maidan.
The report was submitted before the High Court on Thursday and the case is likely to come up for hearing on April 9. While the DYFI had organised a rally at the Maidan on December 20 last year, the CPM had held a rally on February 8 at the Brigade Parade Ground in the Maidan.
Delivering an order on September 28,2007 in the Save Victoria case the Calcutta High Court had banned the use of open ovens, burning of leaves and parking of vehicles in the Maidan area.
In its report the LMA said the participants in the CPM rally had used open ovens for cooking meals and had burnt dry leaves at various locations. The vehicles were found both inside and outside the Maidan area within three kilometre of the Victoria Memorial.
