Another IIT student kills self

Manoj,a resident of Rajasthan,used to stay in room 114 of the Madan Mohan Malaviya Hall of Residence. His body was found after the construction workers,who were working at the hostel,found a foul smell emanating from his room and peeped inside through the ventilator. They then informed the authorities.

Incidentally,most of the students had left for their native place to spend the summer vacation.

Manoj had failed in one paper on programming and data structure and stayed back at the hostel. Institute officials confirmed the incident but refused to say more insisting that the matter is under investigation. “The police were informed by the institute officials in the afternoon. The body was badly decomposed and from preliminary investigation it appears that he had died five days ago,” said a police official.

Police have recovered the mobile phone of the student and informed his family members about his death. The institute has reported the unnatural death of a few students over the last two months.
