3 killed in coal pit collapse

Three persons who had illegally entered an Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) mine at Salanpur in Burdwan district,which was not in use,died after the pit of the coal mine collapsed on Friday.

Burdwan:Three persons who had illegally entered an Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) mine at Salanpur in Burdwan district,which was not in use,died after the pit of the coal mine collapsed on Friday. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Assansol) S Ganguly said the three deceased have been identified as Mohan Barui (48),Purna Chandra Barui (55),Ajit Barui (45). The bodies have been sent for postmortem.

Bodies of missing couple exhumed

Jalpaiguri:Bodies of a couple,who had gone missing some time ago,was exhumed in Jalpaiguri district on Friday. Police exhumed the bodies of Sarwan Oraon (19) and Pushpa Oraon (22) from Chamurchi tea garden close to the Indo-Bhutan border.

The families of both Sarwan and Pushpa had lodged a missing complaint with the Banarhat police station. Acting on a tip-off police went to a spot in Chamurchi tea garden and started digging the ground and exhumed the bodies of Sarwan and Pushpa. Both the bodies have been sent to hospital for postmortem to know the cause of the death. Police said they were investigating as to who killed and buried them.
