2 doctors held in AMRI fire case

The Kolkata Police arrested the duo this morning from their residence for their alleged involvement with fire at AMRI on December 9. Total nine directors out of the fifteen and four employees were arrested in connection with fire till today. Three directors are absconding. Moving the bail petition advocate S K Kapor counsel of Dr Chetri pleaded that he was a reputed doctor and aged about 92 years old. Though he was managing director of the AMRI but he administered only the medical side of the hospital. Dr Chetri looked into the purchase of the medical equipment and the treatment provided to the patient. But the he was never involved with security and safety affair of the hospital. Equally Dr Pranab Dasgupta,another director of the AMRI was involved only to look into the medical affairs of the hospital.

Urging the court for two weeks police remand,advocate Debasish Roy,counsel of the state government pleaded that earlier the Kolkata Police interrogated the two doctors in connection with the fire and they made a statement to the police.

They knew about the important documents where it was kept in. Those documents could be traced out after taking them in the police remand,said Roy . The recovery of those documents would help the progress of the investigation. After such submission,Kapoor said that the police interrogated them three weeks ago. Why did the Kolkata not arrest them after interrogation?
