Defence PRO Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said that Army troops along with police had been carrying out relentless operations in search of the militant who had escaped. (Representational image) The Army on Friday found the dead body of an alleged terrorist who was injured in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district early this month.
Though the identity of the man killed was yet to be ascertained, Defence PRO Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said that he had earlier escaped during an encounter during a joint operation by the Army troops and police in Khawaja area of Rajouri district, near to Reasi district.
He said that Army troops along with police had been carrying out relentless operations in search of the militant who had escaped.
Army and Jammu Kashmir Police deployed along the high ridge lines near Dhakikot on August 17 night observed suspicious movement of unidentified persons. One among them, who approached the deployment site, tried to escape as he was challenged which the troops prevented, he said.
He was seen stumbling and falling down the cliff in dense forest, he said. Party probed ahead, till the search was halted for the night due to inclement weather and the dense forest.
During a search operation along with SOG and VDC members in the early morning hours the dead body of a likely foreign terrorist was found in the jungle area. Warlike stores have also been recovered from the terrorist. The operation is in progress, the officer added.
