1 dead, 22 injured as bus carrying Vaishno Devi pilgrims overturns near J&K’s Katra
The deceased and injured hail from Jaipur of Rajasthan and were returning to Katra of J&K after offering prayers at Mata Vaishno Devi hill shrine.

One person was killed and 22 others injured Sunday when a bus carrying Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims overturned at Moori, 14 km from Jammu and Kashmir’s Katra town.
Identifying the deceased as Nitika, 27, a resident of Jaipur, health department officials said her mother Sushila, 50, was among those injured. Others who sustained injuries also hail from Jaipur and 15 of them were rushed to hospital for treatment.
According to police, after having darshan at the Vaishno Devi shrine in the Trikuta Hills, the victims had returned to Katra town from where they boarded bus no. PD-4101 for Jammu. However, the bus overturned at a sharp bend near the Moori police check post, they added.
Meanwhile, pointing out that some terror groups on social media are claiming it as terror incident, a police spokesperson quoted driver, passengers and eyewitnesses to confirm that the driver lost control of the “overspeeding” bus while negotiating a “sharp curve”, resulting in the accident.
The injured have been identified as Saroj, 50, her daughters, Divya, Deepa Kumari and Mona; Divansh, 30, Bhagwan Sai, 44, Manoj Kumar, 45, Sushila, 50, Gunnu, 14, Mona, 30, Mayank, 6, Kailash Kanamwat, 38, her son Rohan, 6, Chanchal Singh, 30, and Daksh, 6. Five of them were referred to Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu.
