ABVP organisational secretary Mithilesh Gautam said they had put forth 25 matters related to student welfare, and that their winning candidates would work for the resolution of these matters.On the eve of student union elections in Rajasthan, candidates were busy canvassing at students’ homes and hostels.
The most prestigious election is at Rajasthan University, where the contest is between Congress’s NSUI and BJP-backed ABVP. Both unions have drawn up manifestos outlining their plans for students.

The NSUI manifesto promises to resolve 17 matters related to students, especially ‘student-unfriendly’ policies introduced by the BJP government.
From ABVP, Rajkumar Biwal is contesting for the post of president, and Abhishek Meena for the post of general secretary. From NSUI Satvir Choudhary is contesting for president and Abhishek Meena (another candidate with same name) for general secretary.
To woo students from tribal communities, both student parties have put up candidates from similar castes.
Independent candidates have also left no stone unturned in campaigning.
Rajasthan University’s dean of student welfare M N Sharma said all preparations for the elections were complete. Students will be allowed to vote on presentation of their admission cards.
Police have made arrangements in all universities across the state for the elections. Recommendations by the Lyngdoh committee will be strictly followed.
