(Representational image)A 20-year-old coaching student, hailing from Uttar Pradesh and preparing for NEET-UG, allegedly died by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of his PG room in Kota’s Dadabadi police station area on Wednesday night, police said.
A suicide note was recovered from his room which read: “Mummy-Papa khush rahiye, main ab aap par bojh nhi ban na chahata” (Mummy–Papa stay happy, I don’t want to be a burden on you anymore).
Dadabadi SHO Naresh Meena said Ashutosh Chaurasiya, a resident of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh, was living in Kota for the last 1 year with his cousin sister who is also preparing for NEET-UG.
While Ashutosh used to attend his classes in the morning, his cousin attended the evening classes.
On Wednesday, Ashutosh returned to his room around 1 pm from his coaching classes as usual. When she returned in the evening around 8:30 pm and went to check on him, she found the door of his room locked. Despite repeated knocking, she did not get any response from inside, Worried, she informed the PG owner who immediately informed the police. When the door was forced open, they saw his body hanging from the ceiling fan.
“We have informed his parents. They said they would reach Kota by Thursday night. We were told that the student was suffering from some neurological disease because of which he used to remain disturbed. He was also taking treatment for the same. Further investigation will take place after his parents arrive,” said Meena.

This is the 16th case of suicide by a coaching student in Kota this year. 26 such cases were reported last year.
