Jaipur Hospital Fire Live Updates: The Rajasthan government ordered the removal of the superintendent of the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital and the nodal officer of its Trauma Centre from their posts following the fire that killed six people spraked protests. The government also announced Rs 10 lakh to the families of those who died in the tragedy. Earlier, the government constituted a six-member committee to investigate the incident, which claimed six lives. The relatives of the victims of a major fire incident at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) held a protest against the hospital administration and the state government, alleging negligence by hospital staff. At least six critical patients were killed in the incident in Jaipur late Sunday night. One of the protesters alleged that the hospital staff ignored warnings when informed about the short circuit at the ICU, ANI report quoted. Earlier, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel and Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedham visited the trauma centre to take stock of the situation. Cause of the fire: Trauma centre in-charge Dr Anurag Dhakad said that 11 patients were being treated in the Neuro ICU when the fire erupted in the storage area. A suspected short circuit is believed to have caused the blaze, he told PTI. The fire created chaos in the building, with smoke rapidly spreading throughout the floor and causing panic among patients and their families. Most of the equipment were gutted by the fire, before firefighters arrived and brought the fire under control in approximately two hours, as per the PTI report.
