Good news is in store for those in Goa as Uber has officially launched its operations in the coastal state.
Currently, the service is active for airport pickups and drop-offs only. Uber’s airport cab service in Goa is applicable in premium category rides only.
Notably, Goa has experienced recurring conflicts between its sole app-based taxi service, Goa Miles, and local taxi services.
Last year, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant expressed his support for introduction cab-hailing services in the state. Speaking in the Goa Assembly, Sawant urged all MLAs to support the cause, assuring them he would gain the confidence of all the stakeholders involved, Prudent Media had reported.
Taxi aggregator services like Uber and Ola had never operated in Goa so far.
