26 instances of printing counterfeit currency detected in Gujarat in 2 years

A total of 26 instances of printing counterfeit currency notes were detected in Gujarat during the last two years, the state government informed the legislature Friday.

Of the total instances, 17 happened in 2022, the government stated in a written response to a question by Congress MLA Anantkumar Patel. During this two-year period, a total of 17,271 counterfeit currency notes were seized, which includes 14,165 notes in 2022.

The government said it caught 90 suspects in connection with these seizures, while five others are yet to be caught.
