Parents call off strike

Parents’ representatives,who were on a hunger strike against fee hike,called it off after seven days. The move came after state School Education Minister Rajendra Darda met the parents and assured them that the draft fee hike bill will be introduced in Assembly tomorrow. Of the 26 protestors,three were from Pune. Sandeep Chavan,an activist from Forum from Fairness in Education,Mateen Mujawar,who heads the Shikshan Hakka Manch in Pune and Ravindra Satav,also from Pune,participated in the strike.

Reprieve for MITR students

The students of Mulshi Institute of Technology and Research (MITR),whose affiliation was cancelled by University of Pune after an alleged mass copying incident involving over 200 engineering students in 2009,have been allotted colleges.

¿The students have been allotted specific colleges on the basis of their merit,¿ said D N Shingade,joint director,who heads the DTE’s office for the Pune region He did not reveal the colleges that the students were alloted to.

20-day bakery course

Baker’s Basket,an up market chain of bakery products,and Redcarpet Hotel & Culinary Academy are conducting a short term course in Bakery and Patisserie. Specialists from both the organisations will train the participants. The course starts on May 2 May and ends on May 20. Classes,to be held thrice a week,will be conducted at the Culinary Studio and Bakery at the Redcarpet Academy. The registration forms are available at all Bakers Basket outlets. Seminar on corporate fraud

The International Institute of Information & Technology,organised a one-day seminar on detection and prevention of corporate fraud. The seminar was held at the Mohini Chabbaria Auditorium,I2IT Campus,Hinjewadi.

The seminar was conducted by Jagdeep Singh,associate director,Ernst & Young Pvt. Ltd. Singh is a chartered accountant and certified internal auditor with 13 years of professional experience. He has worked for KPMG and Protiviti Consulting. He spoke on the current issues in corporate fraud.
