Sequel to success

Bollywood is witnessing a trend of turning every remotely successful film into a franchise. Following the movie’s success, the makers of Vicky Donor have also decided to subscribe to this trend. John

Abraham,Ronnie Lahiri and Ram Mirchandani are contemplating making a sequel to Vicky Donor, which used sperm donation as the theme.

Meanwhile, the film’s director Shoojit Sircar and writer Juhi Chaturvedi are brainstorming on what subject they should tackle next. Work on the sequel will begin only after the Vicky Donor team, including actor Ayushmann Khurrana, has wrapped up work on their next venture,Hamara Bajaj.

Higher crime rate on TV

IT may not be India’s answer to popular international crime drama series Crime Scene Investigation, but CID on Sony has its own loyal fan following. The show has been on air for 15 years and despite the jaded plots, poor production values and unintentionally humourous dialogues,

it continues to be among the top TV shows. To please audiences further, the channel has decided to increase the show’s frequency. Starting this June,CID — until now being aired on Friday and Saturday — will also have an episode telecast every Sunday.
