Whistle Stop: Huma is the star

She is two films old,but Huma Qureshi,we hear,is already being a “star” on the sets. The actress, who made her debut with Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur, has been shooting the climax sequence of the upcoming film Ek Thi Daayan in the city. Since the film is to release shortly, the cast and crew have to work within a limited time. But Qureshi, oblivious to this, has been spending her time chatting on the phone and watching television in her vanity van, keeping her co-star Emraan Hashmi and the crew waiting. If this nonchalance stems from her overconfidence,Qureshi might want to keep it in check if she plans on a long innings in Bollywood.

Lungi chic

She has made the lungi chic but the idea that Deepika Padukone wears this modest piece of clothing, mostly associated with men from south India, came from Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty. While shooting for the posters of Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express,Khan who plays the male lead, had the option of wearing either a plain white lungi or a checkered one. He opted for the former. Padukone, who had to change her outfit, was running late. In order to save time,Khan and Shetty asked her to quickly change into a lungi and pair it up with a shirt of her co-star’s. And that became the genesis of one of Padukone’s most unusual but sexy looks. One hopes to see more of that in the movie.
