Whistle stop

While every Bollywood actor worth his surname has tried his hand at television,Aamir Khan couldn’t have stayed far behind.

Small Screen Temptations

While every Bollywood actor worth his surname has tried his hand at television,Aamir Khan couldn’t have stayed far behind. After refuting rumours of appearing on a TV show for a long time, the actor is set to make his television debut on Star Plus. The buzz is that he will be hosting a chat show that deals with social issues. The show, conceptualised by Siddhartha Basu’s Big Synergy, already has a team in place to conduct detailed research in the country’s remote areas. The homework gone into the show does not come as a surprise since Aamir is known to be a perfectionist. However,it will be interesting to watch is if Aamir will be able to better Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati or Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt’s Bigg Boss on the TRP scale.

Telly Innings

After her Bollywood career did not take off as she had expected,Esha Deol has begun to look at other avenues apart from acting. Even as her comeback film,Tell Me O Kkhuda, readies to hit theatres,Esha plans to turn television producer. “I want to make television shows. They have a huge market today,” she says. The idea to turn producer came from her mother Hema Malini, who has produced TV shows in the past. “Television has become a huge medium and there is always some scope to experiment there. Right now,I am learning the business of filmmaking. By next year,I should be able to take it up,” she says.

Mallika as Munni

As soon as the Tamil remake of 2010 blockbuster,Dabangg, was announced, search for the new “Munni” also began. After Katrina Kaif,Bipasha Basu and even Malaika Arora Khan were rumoured to have stepped in,Mallika Sherawat has been chosen to perform on the popular dance number. Kaslala, the Tamil version of Munni Badnaam Hui,has Sherawat grooving with the lead actor,Silambarasan aka Simbu. The actress dazzled with choreography to match the original’s reputation, while the song has a more contemporary setting.

Big Deal

Boney Kapoor’s son,Arjun, seems to have gained by losing his first film,Virus Diwan. This film by Yashraj Films was shelved but the young boy seems to have got a better deal with Ishaqzaade. The father figure of the Indian film industry,Yash Chopra, has decided to launch Arjun under his banner in a film directed by National Award winner,Habib Faisal. At the heart of Ishaqzaade is the turbulent journey of two lovers that unfolds in the often unrealistic and daunting political confines of rural India.
