The quiet streets of Lado Sarai reverberated with some high octane psychedelic trance music on Saturday night,as the Israel-born and US-based electronic band Infected Mushroom played some of their popular tracks to a crowd of over two hundred people at the Lure,Tavern on the Greens club. Hours earlier,Sushmita Aggarwal,owner of Lure,had been hopeful of drawing in a full house,and the crowd,which kept pouring in till late in the night,seemed to justify her faith. Security was beefed up when sections of the crowd outside got unruly,but when Erez Eisen and Amit Duvdevani took to the stage,it drowned out everything else.

Its a shame that psy-trance is always associated with drugs, said Eisen,downplaying the fact that their Pune concert was cut short after one song by the police on suspicions of rampant drug usage in the audience. It used to the be case some fifteen years ago,but not any more. Now people come just for the love of the music, he added.

In Delhi,people from all walks of life were in sync with the music and went crazy as the duo played tracks from their albums Converting Vegetarians,IM the Supervisor and Legend of the Black Shawarma. The crowd gained momentum a little before midnight as Eisen and Duvdevani spinned a mix of their 2006 famous track Becoming Insane. Despite only performing the DJ set for its Delhi fans (and not the live performance),electronic and trance lovers danced away the night while Eisen and Duvdevani played their tracks.

I havent heard any Indian electronic music, said Eisen ahead of the concert,but Ive heard some of the mainstream Bollywood stuff. Its quite interesting. Given the chance,wed like to mix some of it in our style. Duvdevani,who has travelled extensively in India,is quite familiar with the music scene in the country. Having played here before and spent so much time here,I know how crazy the crowds get, he said.

Besides Delhi,during the four-city India tour Infected Mushroom performed in Bangalore,Mumbai and Pune.
