For vegetarians, who for long have bravely put on a wan smile despite the limited variety of tofu and okra, while their counterparts crackled out crab meats and tucked in scallops, heres some good news. One of Delhis most expensive restaurants,Wasabi by Morimoto, has rolled out an extensive veggie menu to celebrate its first anniversary. When they decided to redo a bit of the menu and bring some seasonal groceries into the kitchen,we couldnt help but raise a curious eyebrow. Lunch here, has taken a pleasant turn, and now besides the novel trapping of non-vegetarian section with white fish clear soup and lamb chops served with sushi rice risotto, potatoes, eggplant and corn kernels are getting a serious makeover. The amuse bouche fetches a delicious rice crispy basket with Japanese avocado salsa decked with a slight hint of tabasco that keeps up the restaurants contemporary Japanese theme. There is tomato fruit carpaccio that serves the Italian red fruit in slim slices along with a dollop of basil sorbet. The soup,Edamae (baby soyabeans) Cappuccino, lends a unique flavour to the frothy broth. And Taro Gnocchi works out an innovative recipe with mashed Japanese potato blanketed with a crispy skin and a pungent twist of ginger sauce. Vegetarian cuisine just got a whole lot better.
