The official said Thakur’s friend Anjali Khera, who had seen the accused, gave their description to the police. Khera had walked into Thakur’s house after the duo had already killed her. The two had locked Khera in the bathroom before ransacking the house.

While interrogating the victim’s relatives, police found Taneja, who runs a gifts shop in Paschim Vihar, was missing. “We zeroed in on Rabool,Taneja’s accomplice. He was arrested from Narela and told us during interrogation that Taneja had fled to Madhepura in Bihar. A police team arrested him from the Patna railway station,” the official added.

Both the accused had studied up to Class X and had planned the crime at Rabool’s house in Narela, police said. “The victim’s husband had recently sold a property in Sonipat and the cash was kept in his house. Taneja knew about this and hatched the conspiracy to loot the money,” Atul Katiyar,Deputy Commission of Police (Outer),said.
