Three Tibetan activists from the organisation Students for a Free Tibet (India),staged a protest against Chinese Premier Li Keqiang’s India visit at 11 am on Monday. They protested approximately 100 metres from the Taj Palace Hotel, where the Premier is staying during his first official visit to India since being appointed to the post, which is the number two position in the Chinese government, under President Xi Jinping.

One activist,Tashi, unfurled a 20-foot banner that read: “China Out of Tibet,China Out of India. Li Keqiang: Tibet Will Be Free!” and shouted slogans calling for a free Tibet. They were detained as soon as they began the protest and taken to the nearest police station.

“China’s occupation of Tibet is not only a critical issue for 60 lakh Tibetans aspiring for freedom and human rights, but also a growing security issue for India. The recent incursion by Chinese troops into Indian territory in Eastern Ladakh once again highlights China’s imperialist plans for the region,” said Dorjee Tseten,National Director,Students for a Free Tibet (India).
