The husband of a contender for the post of village pradhan in Greater Noida has been arrested for hijacking a Bolero outside Jaypee Greens and then taking it to his house. Two accomplices,who helped him commit the crime,are also in police custody.
Police said Ajeet Mavi,accompanied by two B.Pharm students,had robbed a Bolero belonging to one Manish Kumar Tiwari while the latter was ferrying labourers to a construction site at Jaypee Greens in the wee hours of Thursday.
Ajeet and the two students,who arrived in a white Scorpio,stopped the Bolero and shoved Tiwari into the co-drivers seat. He then drove the Bolero to his house in Birondi village,while his accomplices came in the Scorpio, Circle Inspector Shailendra Lal said,adding that the accuseds wife,Babli,is running for the post of village pradhan. Tiwari was identified as a resident of Swarnanagri in Greater Noida.
The police said that around 1 am,the control room received a call informing them about the hijacking. We were told that the car had been taken to Birondi village. When we went there,we found the vehicle parked outside Ajeets house. We also freed Tiwari,who was held captive in the house, SP (Rural) Atul Saxena said.
Ajeets accomplices were identified as second-year B Pharm students Ajay Singh and Manish Kumar. They were both residing in a paying accommodation run by Ajeet.
Stating that Ajeet was intoxicated when he hijacked the Bolero,a senior police officer said,We have charged the trio with robbery and illegal detention. There was no enmity between the victim and the accused.
Incidentally,Ajeet had been arrested four years ago for indulging in violence.
