Three die in separate accidents

Three persons,including a bank manager,were crushed to death by speeding vehicles in three separate accidents in the past 36 hours in the Capital.

Three persons,including a bank manager,were crushed to death by speeding vehicles in three separate accidents in the past 36 hours in the Capital. The first incident was reported near Boulevard Road in Kashmere Gate area of North Delhi when a speeding vehicle hit a 56-year-old man crossing the road. Police officers have identified the deceased as Jagmohan Gupta,who worked as a manager with Sahkari Bank.

Gupta was crossing the road when an unknown vehicle,that according to eyewitnesses was speeding,hit him. A passer-by immediately informed the police,who rushed a bleeding Gupta to ISBT Trauma Centre,where doctors declared him dead on arrival, a senior police officer said.

The police said Gupta,a resident of Mehndru Enclave of Azadpur area,sustained severe head injuries. He is survived by his wife and two children. A case of death due to rash and negligent driving has been registered.

In the second incident,a man was killed and his son severely injured when their bike collided with a divider in Punjabi Bagh area of West Delhi on Saturday night. Police said the incident took place near the underpass on main Rohtak Road in Punjabi Bagh at 11.30 pm.

The deceased,Chander Bhan Yadav (40) and his son Sanjay Yadav (22) were on their way home and were headed towards Nangloi from Anand Parbat area.

Near Punjabi Bagh,their bike collided with the divider and the two fell down on the road. A passer-by informed the police,who rushed the two to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital. Chander Bhan sustained severe head injuries and died early on Sunday morning. Sanjay also sustained heavy injuries,but his condition is reportedly stable in the hospital, a police officer said.

The family of the victims reside in Mubarakpur Village and own a factory in Anand Parbat area.

In the third incident,a mason was crushed to death by an unknown vehicle in Punjabi Bagh area on Saturday night. The deceased,Balkishan (25),was a resident of west Punjabi Bagh and was on foot when an unknown vehicle ran over him near the Club Road in Punjabi Bagh around 10.40 pm on Saturday. He was rushed to ESI Hospital in Basaidarapur where he was declared dead on arrival.
