Three people have died in road accidents reported from across the Capital in the last 24 hours.
A pedestrian was crushed to death by an unidentified vehicle in the Mandawali area early on Saturday. Nizamuddin (32) was returning home to Ghaziabad when a speeding vehicle hit him on NH-24. A passer-by called the PCR around 1 am, the police said,adding that a hit-and-run case has been lodged in this connection.
In the second incident,a motorcyclist was killed when he rammed a truck. The incident was reported from the Govindpuri area around 10.45 pm on Friday. Mohammed Iqbal (24),a resident of Sangam Vihar,was on his way home from work when near the ESIC Hospital in the Govindpuri area he lost control over his motorcycle and rammed a truck that was moving alongside. Iqbal died on the spot, a police officer said. The police later registered a case of death due to rash driving against truck driver Survesh and arrested him.
Elsewhere,a 21-year-old MBA student was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle in the New Friend Colony area on Thursday. The police said they came to know of the incident around 12.10 pm,when Max Hospital authorities informed them that a youth,who had died in a road accident,had been brought to the hospital.
Lal Mohammed,a resident of Sahibabad in UP,had come to Jamia Nagar for an exam. He was returning home when he met with the accident. He was rushed to a private hospital in the Pandav Nagar area,where his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to Max Hospital. It appears that either he fell while alighting from a bus or was hit by a speeding vehicle, the police said.
