Swimming pool contractor shot for objecting to after-hours visitors

A 56-year-old contractor of a swimming pool was shot by three unidentified assailants outside a sports complex in Munirka,South Delhi,late on Thursday night.

A 56-year-old contractor of a swimming pool was shot by three unidentified assailants outside a sports complex in Munirka,South Delhi,late on Thursday night. Police said Trilok Singh Tokas was killed after he checked two of the three accused for loitering in the complex after closing hours.

During the argument,Tokas slapped one of the accused,police added. Though they had left,they returned later with an accomplice and shot him.

Tokas’s body was found inside Baba Ganganath DDA sports complex,where he held a contract for the swimming pool. It bore five bullet wounds — in the forehead,neck,stomach,chest and back,police said.

According to police,Tokas was on his daily rounds around 10.30 pm when he spotted the accused. “He asked them to leave,and the men apologised. However,Tokas slapped one of them,” said a senior police officer.

The accused returned after about an hour. “They gagged and tied one of the guards at the entrance and sent the other to call Tokas. When he came out,they opened fire at him and fled,” said the officer.

One of the guards called the police at 12.10 am; a worker informed Tokas’s brother who lives in Munirka,he added.

“Along with a friend,I took my brother to the AIIMS Trauma Centre,where he was declared dead on arrival,” said Bijender Singh,Tokas’s brother.

Police suspect two guns were used to shoot Tokas.
