Pirouettes on the catwalk, vodka shots on the floor and the fashion crowd in high spirits marked the launch of Salvatore Ferragamo’s new collection,My Ferragamo at the DLF Emporio Mall in Vasant Kunj. In an obvious departure from the fashion house’s earlier chunky styles, simple no nonsense pumps and the staple Vara pumps (designed by Ferragamo’s daughter in the 1970s) have been vamped up this season by introducing a new palette in bold colors, and price points as low as Rs 15,000.

While socialite Queenie Dhody chatted with sundry guests, artist Surita Tandon, tottering on Dior stilletoes, scouted around for a suitable pair from the Ferragamo stable. Actor Deepika Padukone, whose last release,Pradeep Sarkar’s Lafangey Parindey did not meet with success at the box office, traipsed in,picking her way through the aisles and trying on Ferragamo heels. “Despite changing trends, there are some looks which are classic and will always remain so,” she quipped, while Dhody nodded in agreement, adding,“The simple fact that our grandmothers wore them is an indication of their timelessness. Others seen at the event were Rohit Bal,Anmol Vadhera,Kalyani Chawla and Ameeta Seth.
