After a successful innings with her firm, The White Window, Twinkle Khanna has now found a new role — a mentor to students of interior design. She has recently launched a course on interior design at select centres of Inter-National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD). The actor-turned-interior designer Khanna says, “It’s really nice to see that interior design is seen in such a professional way. Back when I started, there were hardly any specialised courses on offer.” The course, which will be rolled out at 40 centres of INIFD across the country, will see the interior designer share trends from around the world. “It’s a role I am looking forward to as I will be able to guide students to meet international styles and also keep them updated,” she says.
Since she’s always immaculately turned out, we asked her if fashion design would be on the cards in the future. “No, I don’t think I want to design anything but interiors. Even my own style is the same. If I use clashing prints on a sofa, I usually end up clashing prints in my outfit too,” says Khanna.
“Every one has become house proud. They want to live stylish and create an original space of their own. That’s where people like us step in,” she says. And if you are looking to give your home a makeover, the expert recommends using elements of both silver and gold this season. For the more adventurous, orchid is the colour to incorporate in your living space.
