The high security registration plates scheme, implemented in Haryana on May 15,will be launched for Gurgaon on Thursday by Additional Chief Secretary of Transport Ramendra Jakhu.
Under the scheme, all vehicles in the city are required to get registration plates of specific standards.
Each plate will have a unique code and a hologram to enhance the security of a number plate. A self-destructible plate sticker will also be pasted on the front windscreen of the vehicles.
Link Utsav Registration Plates Limited,a private firm, has been allotted the work of affixing these plates in all districts of Haryana.
There are 34 locations in the state where these number plates can be installed. The number will be increased to 79 locations by the month-end, a Transport official said.
The new registration plates have tamper-proof features such as a chromium-base hologram with an image of the Ashok Chakra,self-destructive sticker with engine number, chassis number and hologram and a unique serial number etched with laser on each plate.
The plate will also have India inscribed in black through hot stamping, and a non-removable and non-reusable snap lock.
