Schools get fresh directive on grievance redressal system

The new directive is part of efforts to make the grievance redressal system under the RTE Act more effective.

The Directorate of Education (DoE) has asked schools to display prominently the process for grievance redressal, members of the committee and the timings and days kept aside for the process. The new directive is part of efforts to make the grievance redressal system under the RTE Act more effective.

To ensure compliance, the directorate has directed all deputy directors “to ensure fixed timings and days are kept aside for grievance redressal”. “The schedule along with names of members of the district-level grievance redressal committee and their official telephone numbers should be displayed prominently outside the district office in public domain,” the circular states.

According to the circular, decisions should be communicated the same day a complaint is received. “The complainant must be informed in writing or by phone that the decision on his/her complaint is taken and that it is available online,” the department said.

Online module

DoE has developed an online module for recording admissions conducted under EWS and disadvantaged category, which has to be filled up by all private schools. Under the system, schools will be required to fill in details of admissions under EWS and disadvantaged category by the schools in all classes.
