The Power of One staged at DPS,Sushant Lok
Delhi Public School,Sushant Lok,held The Power of One,a musical dance drama,at Kamani Auditorium on April 20 and 21,on the occasion of their Annual Day celebration. Principal Dr Ruchi Seth welcomed the chief guests,Dr Prannoy Roy of NDTV and Sheila Dikshit,Chief Minister of Delhi,Guests of Honour N K Singh,Rajya Sabha MP,and Ashok Chandra,Chairman,DPS Society,and junior and senior school parents. The cast consisted of 300 students who presented a spectacular performance complete with dance,music,and thought-provoking dialogues which strongly brought out the message that every child is a protagonist and it is up to us to tap their potential and draw them out. After the traditional lighting of the lamp,Dr Ruchi Seth presented the school report and spoke on the achievements of the students. The play,directed by Madhu Sagar of Stagelights,is an ode to the individual child. With exquisite set decorations in hues of blue and green,the play was an audio-visual treat that mesmerised the audience. Sheila Dikshit told the students that they should grown not only into great academicians but also holistic individuals. Dr Prannoy Roy appreciated the efforts of the students,calling it a breathtaking performance and told the student fraternity that as they are the future of India,they need to pursue a career of their desire and interest. Ashok Chandra hailed the show as fantastic,appreciating the excellent performance of the students. In his message to the young learners,he expressed that the green cover of our earth should not be sacrificed to satisfy human greed and luxuries. It is necessary to improve things by taking initiative as an individual. With energetic dances and melodies that resonated through the auditorium,The Power of One was given all due appreciation. The evenings ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
Orientation programme at Ramjas School,Pusa Road
To nurture a positive and fruitful relationship with parents and welcome the students of Class VI,Ramjas School organised an orientation program on April 4. The principal,Mohini Bindra,welcomed the students and parents to the Ramjas family. She introduced the parents and the students to the school,its ethics,rules,regulations,its scholastic and co-scholastic activities. Parents were also apprised of the CCE and its relation to the school curriculum. She also focused on the learning process followed in school,emphasising the importance of projects and learning through doing. The international dimension in the curriculum will enable students to develop in a more holistic fashion and understand their role as global citizens. The orientation was followed by an interactive session,where teachers answered various queries of parents regarding scholastic and co-scholastic skills. Neha Bhimwal from VIMHANS conducted a brief workshop on parenting,during which she gave useful tips. The session proved to be very informative. The parents appreciated the efforts made by the school to welcome them and their wards to the school.
KIIT World School celebrates Shakespeares birth
KIIT World School,Pitampura,celebrated the birth anniversary of William Shakespeare on April 23 by holding inter- school competitions through the Satya Kamrah Memorial under different categories such as Crosswords,Picasso,Tech Knack and Vendor v/s Emptor inside the school premises. Prominent schools in the actively participated in the events. There were 17 schools and around 200 participants,all accompanied by their teachers. The performances and the endeavour was scintillating and commendable. The crossword competitions and debates over the topic Fair is foul and foul is fair for students of classes IX to XII were taken up by the participants with great fervor and excitement .The first position was bagged by Sachdeva Public School and the rolling trophy was awarded to SS Mota Singh Sr Sec. School,Janakpuri. Picasso displayed a mixture of competitions for students of different age groups in the areas of mask making,card making,mural making and paper mache. The chiseled pieces of arts were remarkable and showcased the latent artist hidden in every child. The Emptor V/s Vendor competition saw the participation of Class XI and XII students and the rolling trophy was claimed by Vishal Bharti Public School,Paschim Vihar. While the best Vendor turned out to be Bal Bharti Public School,Pitampura,Vishal Bharti Public School,Paschim Vihar,walked away with the best Emptor award . There were two competitions under Tech Knack progmatics and poetech which projected the IT skills of students with humour and logic doled out in equal proportions. These competitions were judged by Annu of The Times of India and Priya Kapoor of The Indian Express. The vote of thanks was delivered by KIIT Academic Advisor Subhash Arora,who applauded the speaking skills of all the participants and mentors.
Celebrations as St Marks School,Meera Bagh,turns 21
On April 20,St Marks Sr Sec.Public School,Meera Bagh,celebrated its 21st Foundation Day. It was a day of celebration,joy and fun.The day saw the unfurling of the school flag by Chairman T P Aggarwal,in the presence of Principal A Aggarwal,Vice Principal V Wahi and the entire SMS family. It was followed by the singing of the school song. It also saw everyone reiterating the school motto of Loyalty,Truth and Honour. The cultural programme was followed by the investiture ceremony,where the head boy Mani Makkar,head girl Taniya Arora and other office bearers were reminded of their duties towards the school. The best students for the 2010-2011 academic session were awarded with their certificates and trophies. These students were Kashish Grover (X) and Sanchit Goyal (XI). The Best House Award for sports,bulletin board display and discipline was also presented to the house in-charges and house captains. It was a day full of fun,enjoyment and nostalgia for the entire SMS family. There were special activities conducted for students from Class I to V. The atmosphere was very radiant and vibrant with all the little ones wearing beautiful and colourful dresses. The day also saw the cutting of the special birthday cake and wishing the school all the very best in its endeavours.
Earth Day celebrations at DPS,RK Puram
Delhi Public School ,RK Puram celebrated Earth Day on April 21. Earth Day was first celebrated on April 22,1970,in the United States. Senator Gaylord Nelson of the United States founded Earth Day. It is the largest,most widely celebrated international environmental event. Earth Day is celebrated to create awareness among people about protecting the biodiversity (plants and animals),reducing pollution of the air,water,soil and land,and promoting alternative sources of energy such as solar energy. On the occasion,a special assembly was held in the school,where students and members of the Environment Club discussed the importance of the environment and how they could preserve it. A pledge to protect it was taken by the students. E&I magazine Terravision was released. Special Earth Day badges were distributed among students and teachers. A presentation was made by Nokia on e-waste. All the teachers wore green to show their concern for the environment. The principal,D R Saini,and the teachers planted saplings in the gardens of the school. Various activities such as exhibition of eco-friendly models,slogan writing,T-shirt painting and dry flower arrangements were organised for the students during Environment Week. Students of Hope Hall School,Sec- VIII, also visited the school to join in the celebrations. The school is attached to DPS R K Puram by the Ministry of Environment under the Lead School Programme.
