The Delhi government is revamping healthcare facilities for students of its schools. the authorities have decided to do away with the services of non-governmental organisations that were earlier in charge of providing check-ups to students,and monitor the health scheme in the schools.
Newsline takes a look at the number of children covered under the scheme
* The Delhi Health department had involved NGOs that covered about 668 of its schools.
* The new plan makes each child eligible for a weekly medical check-up. One doctor will be made available for a group of 5 to 6 schools in a neighbourhood.
* 1,50,000 students studying in 423 Delhi government schools will be covered by the School Health Scheme.
* 9,06,000 is the total number of students in 1,826 MCD schools.
* There are 80 schools under the jurisdiction of the NDMC.
* Around 30,000 students are enrolled in NDMC schools.
* There are 6 cantonment board schools with around 3,500 students.
* 11 lakh students are to be screened by medical and paramedical personnel assisted by schoolteachers under the School Health Scheme.
* 2,400 MCD teachers will be trained in 150 sessions by the Delhi government under the School Health Scheme.
* 250 NDMC schoolteachers were trained in 10 sessions by 2 master trainers for the scheme.
* 50 teachers from cantonment board schools were trained in 2 sessions by 2 master trainers.
* 700 Delhi government schoolteachers were trained in 50 sessions by 4 master trainers.
* 923 is the total number of Delhi government schools at present.
