Haryana Parliamentary Affairs Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala on Monday alleged that the India Against Corruption (IAC) members who stormed Congress MP Deepinder Singh Hoodas home in New Delhi recently were mostly dismissed workers of Maruti.
Surjewala said these workers were sacked following the violence in Marutis Manesar unit where a senior executive died.
Surjewala said: Arvind Kejriwal must know that 9,Pandit Pant Marg is not the official residence of the Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, but it is allotted to his son who is an MP. The Chief Minister was not present in Delhi when the house was stormed. He was attending to official functions in Chandigarh.
The action to force their way into the family residence of the Chief Ministers son in New Delhi by breaking police barriers, indulging in rampant violence and obstructing traffic is deeply condemnable and sets a new ‘low in the discourse of democratic process, the minister said.
He said the state government has amply clarified the allegations leveled by Kejriwal regarding permission granted to sell land owned by East India Hotels Limited of Oberoi Group to DLF Limited and 350 acres in Wazirabad auctioned through international competitive bids.
He said everyone in a democratic set-up has the right to question, but no one has the right to forcibly enter the residence of an individual.
Are these public gimmicks aimed at raising issues or only an attempt to stay in the news? Is it not so that decency and democracy should be hallmarks of public protest in a democratic polity? he asked.
We are certain that this quest for persistent media publicity will end with a truthful introspection, Surjewala said.
