Luck ran out for two bike-borne robbers when one of them fell off the bike after attempting to loot a businessman and was arrested by an 60-year-old beat constable on Tuesday night. The two had allegedly robbed another businessman the same night. The second accused was also arrested later .
The incident was reported at 9.30 pm on Tuesday in Saraswati Vihar in Northwest Delhi. According to police officials,the accused Vikram and accomplice Arun first intercepted and robbed a gas agency owner of Rs 60,000 and his gold chain near Brittania Chowk. The officials said the victim,Inderjeet Singh,was returning home when the accused stopped his auto-rickshaw and robbed him.
The police later received a call about a bike-borne robber being arrested near Subhash Place.
The police said the two accused had stopped a Rohini-based businessman,Dhanraj Singh,near Subhash Place by brandishing country-made pistols. They also fired two shots in the air.
At this time,60-year-old beat constable Vijender heard the gunshots and rushed to the spot. Seeing him approach,the robbers accelerated the bike to flee,but Vikram fell off and was arrested, the police said. A case has been registered and the constable will be rewarded,the police said.
