The arrests were made in a joint operation by the Special Staff of East District police and Special Cell of the Delhi Police. The teams received inputs that an alleged robber in Mayur Vihar had been spending huge sums of money over the last two days,and was also seen moving around on a brand new motorcycle.

“Imran had whitewashed Mammen’s house two months ago. At that time,he made up his mind to rob the woman as she was a vulnerable target,” said DCP (Special Cell) Arun Kampani.

“More than a hundred people were questioned during the course of the investigation in the last three days. A massive hunt was launched for verification of recorded robbers and active criminals for their possible involvement in the murder,” said B K Gupta,Commissioner of Police.

Apart from the money lost in gambling,police recovered all the stolen valuables,including four gold bangles,two gold rings,two gold chains,two gold biscuits,one gold locket,a motorcycle purchased with the robbed amount,and Rs 81,000 in cash,from their possession.
