The brutal murder of a 92-year-old man and his daughter-in-law at their East Patel Nagar home on Sunday remains a mystery. Police are questioning domestic helps, drivers, security guards and relatives of the dead but no arrests have been made so far.
Police also said they are investigating the possibility of a property dispute behind the double murders, which the throats of the two victims were cut with a pair of scissors.
“We have found no specific leads into the motive or the accused behind the double murders. We are still investigating the case and several police teams have been sent across the city and to neighbouring states.

Since the possibility of a robbery looks bleak as a motive, we are taking a possible property dispute seriously in this case,” a senior police officer said.
Police said that they have recovered no CCTV footage from the area. The block did not have CCTV cameras installed and only few individual homes had cameras equipped with live recording and memory backup.
“Moreover, the security guards at the colony maintained no register of the visitors’ entry and exit. So we do n’t know who visited the house in the victims’ last few hours,” a senior police officer said.
Several persons were questioned all through Monday, including security guards and relatives of slain 65-year-old Shashi and her 90-year-old father-in-law Sewa Ram.
