The HRD ministry had asked the CBSE to conduct the CTET for appointment of teachers in classes I to VIII.
All notices and ads state that the minimum qualifications for teaching classes I to V is BA/BSc and those appearing for the finals of two-year diploma in Elementary Education or appearing in one-year BEd course. They do not provide any information on candidates with a B Com degree. I want to apply for the test but the notice has not mentioned that I am eligible, said a candidate, who holds a B Com degree.
The CBSE has now issued a new circular stating that B Com graduates are also eligible. It has been decided by National Council for Teacher Education to include B Com graduates in the eligibility criteria for appointment of teachers in classes I to VIII. Therefore, the eligibility criteria for candidates appearing for CTET-2011 include B Com degree holders also, the circular read.
