A Six year old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by an unidentified man in Dwarka,Southwest Delhi,on Wednesday night. The victim was found in a vacant plot with injuries on her head on Thursday morning.
The girl was reported missing by her father,a rickshaw-puller,at 12 am on Thursday. She was found in a vacant plot in Durga Park at 7 am by a passerby,who then informed us, said Sharad Aggarwal,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest).
The victim,in her statement to the police,said at 9 pm on Wednesday,she was playing outside her house when a man approached her with sweets. He lured her to a vacant plot,where he sexually assaulted her.
She must have resisted and started screamed,following which the man picked up a brick and hit her on the head. The first blow left her unconscious and the man probably thinking that she was dead fled, a senior police officer said on the condition of anonymity.
The victim was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital and later referred to Lok Nayak Hospital,where a medical examination confirmed rape.
A case has been registered at the Sagarpur police station,and further investigations are on, said DCP Aggarwal.
