‘MCD did not delay regularising colonies’

Alleging that the Delhi government has wrongly put the blame of regularising unauthorised colonies on the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, chairman of Standing Committee Yogendra Chandolia said MCD will take prompt action if asked.

Alleging that the Delhi government has wrongly put the blame of regularising unauthorised colonies on the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD),chairman of Standing Committee Yogendra Chandolia said MCD will take prompt action if asked.

“The MCD takes up regularisation of unauthorised colonies on a priority basis as soon as it is notified by the Delhi government. It is the Delhi government that sits on the issues and does not act promptly,” he said.

He also said Standing Committee members would stage a dharna on December 7 in front of the Chief Minister’s house to express their protest.

The councillors in the standing committee also criticised Urban Development Minister A K Walia’s allegations that MCD did not claim funds for development works.

“We want Delhi government to give us Rs 619 crore which is due till December 31,2011. They did not release funds to us for our projects in our wards and are now blaming us for not taking the funds,” said councillor Vijay Prakash Pandey.
