Man who made PCR call on child’s death goes missing

Minutes after the death of a seven-month-child at Shakurbasti , the man who made the PCR call and informed police of the incident has gone “missing”. Police said his phone has been turned off.

According to sources, police received a call at 10.38 am Saturday about the death of a child in West Delhi’s Shakurbasti . The caller said a child had died during a demolition drive by the railways. When a PCR team reached the spot, sources said, the caller was present. He claimed to be a resident of the locality.
While the team was making inquires into the child’s death, her father Mohammad Anwar arrived with the body. Sources said she was taken to Sanjay Gandhi hospital in the PCR van. In the meantime, the caller had vanished.

Investigators said the caller’s number is being tracked. Sources said, prima facie it appears the caller was someone with political leanings and had tried to link the death with the demolition

Sources added that the girl’s father too was not aware of the PCR call. He claimed that he had rushed his daughter to Mahavir hospital on finding her beneath the heap of clothes. When he returned, he said he found the police outside his home.
